The Jio Phone 2 built on KAI OS operating system was launched in July 2018. The screen size of the phone is 2.40 inches with TFT type display and QVGA display panel. Also, it is not a touch screen. Since the handset has a bar design and is small and compact which helps in better handling. Jio Phone 2 provides a resolution of 240 × 320 pixels. The pixel density is 167 pixels per inch (PPI) and provides colour reproduction of 262 k colours. The internal storage of 4 GB is available along with 512 MB RAM. Storage is expandable up to 128 GB using SD card in Jio Phone 2.
Jio Phone 2 has a 2000 mAh Li-ion battery which provides Talktime up to 14 hours. The camera options are rear camera with 2-megapixel and have rear flash along with a front camera with 0.3-megapixel. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 3.5mm headphones along with loudspeakers and FM. Similarly USB ( microUSB 2.0 ), voice over LTE ( VoLTE ) are supported. The keypad used in Jio Phone 2 is QWERTY. Apart from that there is a four way navigation key and dedicated button for voice command. Network connectivity options include 2G, 3G, 4G. Dual sim is also present . It supports LTE Cat 4DL: 150Mbps/UL: 50Mbps, and LTE band 2, 5, 40, 2G band 900/1800. Finally sensors are not present
in the phone.
Jio Phone Monsoon Hungama offer
Chairman Mukesh Ambani also announced the Jio Phone Monsoon Hungama offer that will allow existing feature phone users to exchange their curtent device for the Jio Phone for just for Rs 501. The offer will commence from july 21.
Keyboard and the display panels are an upgrade over the alphanumeric keypad and small display of predecessor. Jio also announced that both the new model and the original Jio phone will support popular apps Whatsapp and Youtube. The Jio Phone received Facebook app back in February this year. Google introduced Google assistant on Jio Phone earlier. Since the expected price of the phone is 2999, it comes under the budget phone segment. The phone would be available at 15th August 2018. Jio Phone 2 is a very much affordable phone when comparing with present day phones.
